The Role
We're hiring a Data Migration Specialist to own the data side of every client launch. Every distributor we sign is moving off an older system, and their customers, vendors, items, pricing, inventory, open orders, and history have to arrive in 10X ERP correct and complete. That work is yours: getting access to the client's data, pulling it out, mapping it, reviewing it, and running the final data pull at launch.
AI is central to how this job gets done. You'll use tools like Claude Code or Codex to profile unfamiliar exports, work out what a legacy field actually means, adapt our migration scripts to each client's data, and check the results. You don't need to be a developer. You do need to be someone who reaches for AI first and knows how to check its work.
This is a new role. We're creating it so data work has one owner, and so our Onboarding Specialists can spend their time with the client. You'll work closely with them on each project, and with our engineering team when something needs a deeper change.
10X ERP is a modern, cloud-native ERP for small and mid-market distributors. Distributors across the country run their business on it today, and more are signed and working through onboarding. We're building toward four client launches a month, and a client is typically in onboarding for several months. So you'll have data work under way for many clients at once, each at a different stage. Keeping that organized, documented, and repeatable is as much the job as any single migration.
The Data
Our clients come to us from more than a dozen legacy systems, from long-established distribution ERPs to QuickBooks and custom in-house databases. Some export cleanly. Many don't. Each one stores customers, items, units of measure, pricing, and history its own way, and those differences are where a launch goes wrong if nobody catches them.
You won't be starting from scratch. We already have migration tooling for nearly every legacy system our clients have come from, and we improve it with every launch. The job is running it well, catching what it misses, and extending it when a client brings a system we haven't seen. When the tooling needs to change, you'll make the change with AI-forward coding tools, working with our engineering team.
What You Will Do
- Work with each client, and their current software provider where needed, to get access to their data
- Pull data from legacy systems through database access, reports, or file exports
- Use AI to profile each export: what's in it, what each field means, and what's missing or inconsistent
- Map legacy data into 10X ERP: customers, vendors, items, units of measure, pricing, inventory, open orders, and history
- Run our existing migration tooling, and use AI coding tools to adapt it to each client's data or extend it to a new system
- Use AI and your knowledge to compare the source data against what landed in 10X ERP, and chase down every mismatch
- Run data integrity reviews and walk clients through their data before launch
- Work with client staff to clean up and fill gaps in their data, and fix what you can without them
- Run the final data pull and load at launch, and check the results
- Document every migration, including sources, mappings, decisions, and known issues, with AI writing the first draft
- Build prompts, checklists, and templates that make the next migration faster
- Review data integrity for existing clients when questions come up after launch
Who You Are
- AI-first. You use tools like Claude Code or Codex every day, and you're comfortable having them read, explain, and change code you didn't write. This is non-negotiable.
- Very good with data. You're at home in large spreadsheets and CSV files, and comfortable querying a database.
- Able to read and work with scripts in PHP, Python, SQL, or whatever a migration calls for, with AI's help. You don't need to be a developer, but code shouldn't scare you.
- Careful by habit. You count records, check totals, and never assume an export, or an AI's answer, is complete.
- You understand what the data means to the business: why an inventory quantity, a price break, or an open balance has to match exactly
- Experienced migrating, converting, or cleaning up business data, ideally in ERP, accounting, or inventory systems
- Able to explain a data problem clearly to client staff who aren't technical
- Organized across many projects at once, and self-directed
- Experience with distribution, wholesale, or supply chain data is a strong plus
- Strong English communication skills
Why This Role
- Your work decides how launch day goes. Clean data is the difference between a smooth launch and a rough first month.
- A new role on proven tooling. The migration code already exists. You'll be the first person whose whole job is running it and making it better.
- AI is how the work gets done. You'll spend your time on the judgment calls, not writing scripts by hand.
- Hard, concrete problems. Legacy systems that were never designed to let anyone leave.
- Self-funded. No investors, no board. Our only obligation is to our customers.

- Competitive compensation and benefits, including health insurance
- Target start: as soon as possible
