10X ERP started with a simple frustration. Brian DeSpain grew up in his family's distribution business, Global O-Ring and Seal, in Houston. When his parents retired and he bought the company in 2018, he set an ambitious goal: grow it 10X over the next decade. He invested heavily in technology and process improvements, but it quickly became clear the ERP system was holding them back.

The system was solid for core distribution workflows, but it wasn't built for modern integrations. Training a new team member took months. Users had to memorize specific “run codes” just to find the right program for every operation. General ledger balances routinely fell out of sync: inventory GL amounts wouldn't match the actual inventory value across items and lots, and AR and AP totals never matched their corresponding customer and vendor balances. Every accounting process required manual posting, which was slow and error-prone. And most reporting had to be done outside the system or by exporting to spreadsheets.

It wasn't just Global. Every distributor Brian talked to had the same story: their ERP handled the basics, but connecting it to e-commerce, shipping, real-time reporting, or any modern tool was a constant battle. The systems were built in a different era, and it showed. Distributors deserved software that could keep up.

Starting in 2017, Brian worked with Liviu Mirea, a full-stack developer with over 15 years of experience, to build modern web applications around Global's legacy ERP: an e-commerce site that synced with the existing system, real-time order and shipment dashboards, a shipping integrator for UPS, FedEx, and USPS, and more. The tools worked well, but they kept hitting the same wall. The legacy ERP wasn't built to work with modern software. Its API restrictions and rigid architecture made every integration harder than it needed to be.

After years of working around those limitations, Brian asked Liviu a different question: what if they built a fully modern ERP from scratch, one designed specifically for distributors, API-first, scalable, and intuitive? Not just for Global O-Ring, but for every distributor facing the same problems.

When Brian shared this vision with his wife, Lauren, she didn't hesitate. Building an ERP from scratch would take years and require significant investment. Together, they made the decision to self-fund the company without outside capital. That choice required real sacrifice, but it means there are no investors pushing them to scale fast at the expense of quality. They have the freedom to build the company the right way: focused on the product, customer experience, world-class support, and taking care of their employees and families who make it all possible. Lauren took on oversight of HR and financials, becoming a co-founder not just in title but in the daily work of building the business.

In March 2021, Liviu and a small team of developers began building the platform from the ground up. Not a fork of legacy code. Not an accounting platform with inventory bolted on. A brand-new, modern ERP designed from the first line of code for distributors. Later that year, Brian teamed up with his MBA classmate, Michael McCormack, to build not just a great product but a lasting business. Michael's background spanning oil and gas, logistics, and enterprise systems brought the operational discipline needed to turn a great product into a scalable company.
